Music is as important to life as food and air. (Click here for proof) To listen to music is to experience joy, but
to play music is to create joy-or something like that. I think. Anyway, knowing the subtleties and nuances of
an instrument allows us to express ourselves to the fullest. Well, that and the biggest guitar amp you can
find. We can only do our best work if we are properly equipped will all the right tools. That is the principal of
how I teach. Get the tools and learn how to use them.
(If at this point you are wondering about this tool thing and asking yourself if you can make music with a
hammer- the answer is it depends on what you hit with it.)
It is futile to have all the technique in the world and play without passion or eloquence. What is made is
soulless and lifeless. The belief here is to apply what has been learned and blend technique with the innate
creativity we possess to reach full expression.
But enough of this philosophical rhetoric! The most important aspect of learning a musical instrument is to
have fun! And that is the main philosophy of how I teach. Lessons are concise and educational, but most of
all they are designed for you to have a good time. Really enjoying playing is the only way to achieve a
competent playing level. Without that practice and playing become a chore. NO CHORES! Have a good time.
Make noise. Bother the cat. Alienate your family members. HAVE FUN!

Oh yah, and get a big amp!
